911 Love: Interview with Nico Müller – AutoMart Canada

Race car driver Nico Müller is well acquainted with podiums around the world – and across all of the racing series. Born in Switzerland, the 33-year-old has an astonishing wealth of experience to draw from. For the past nearly 20 years of his career, which started out in karting, he’s had the opportunity to pilot a wide range of race cars and compete in a variety of racing series like formula racing, DTM, the Formula E World Championship, and the World Endurance Championship. His list of victories includes two runner-up titles in the DTM and an overall win in the 24-hour race at Nürburgring. Under contract as a Porsche factory driver since August 2024, Müller piloted the highly efficient 99X Electric, a vehicle that has already secured several world championship titles, in the last Formula E season for the customer team Andretti Formula E. The crowning glory will follow in the 2025/2026 season, when Müller joins the Porsche Motorsport factory team. “A childhood dream,” as he refers to the collaboration. “Porsche is the brand that race car drivers look up to.” If everything goes according to plan, everyone will be looking up to Müller – on top of the podium.

How are you?
I’m good! I try to feel a little bit better every day.

Emotional, timeless, extraordinary.

Which simple things can make you happy?
Walking barefoot on the grass in summer. And my kids sitting on my lap.

What would you never do in a 911?
Park under a pine tree.

What’s your favorite road?
Susten Pass in Switzerland – and my drive home.

What can distract you?
Only I myself – and sometimes, my wife and kids.

Three things you would take to a desert island?
A boat, a fishing rod, and a Swiss Army knife.

Is there a historical figure you admire?
Roger Federer.

What on a 911 could you do without?
The rev limiter.

And what couldn’t you?
The rest.

What music did you wake up to this morning?
The timba drum – my cell phone alarm.

Your favorite film?
Thanks to my son, it’s currently Cars – go, Sally!

Your favorite book?
The Core by Aki Hintsa.

Where do you long to be?
Lake Thun.

Your most treasured possession?
The support and trust of my family and those around me.

Your secret?
Take a small step forward every day.

The 911 moment of your life?
The first time I saw one as a kid – a clear memory to this day.

Your best advice?
Be yourself and never stop growing.

What would no one expect of you?
That I’m a true country bumpkin at heart and love it!
