In a cautionary move, Jeep has requested owners of approximately 14,000 hybrid vehicles across Canada to park their cars outdoors. This advisory affects specific models equipped with potentially hazardous battery systems that could pose a fire risk.
The vehicles involved are versions of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe from model years 2021 to 2023, and the 2022 and 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. Concerns about these vehicles arose after the manufacturer identified issues with the battery packs, which are supplied by LG Energy Solution. There have been reports indicating that defects within the battery packs might increase the risk of fire.
In response to these safety concerns, Jeep’s parent company, Stellantis, is actively working on formulating a remedy. They have also initiated a recall in order to address and rectify the underlying issue with the batteries. As an interim safety measure, the company strongly advises owners of the affected models to park their vehicles outdoors and away from structures until the repairs have been completed.
Stellantis has committed to notifying all impacted vehicle owners and will provide further guidance on when and how repairs will be managed. In the meantime, they urge all owners to exercise caution and adhere to the recommended parking guidelines to ensure safety.

This action mirrors a similar stance taken in the United States, where nearly 63,000 vehicles have been advised to park outdoors for similar reasons, confirming the wider scope of concern regarding these hybrid vehicle’s battery systems.
As of now, Stellantis and Jeep have not reported any injuries related to this issue, but they are taking these preventative steps as a firm precaution to safeguard customers and the public.
Jeep owners who might be affected by this issue are encouraged to contact their local dealerships or Jeep customer service for additional information and guidance on the recall process.
