Porsche Junior Flynt Schuring celebrates his first Supercup victory – AutoMart Canada

The decisive moment came in qualifying. Due to a technical issue, Flynt Schuring was able to complete only a limited number of laps. As a result, the Porsche Junior from the Netherlands had to settle for fifth place on the starting grid. However, this misfortune ultimately proved to be a blessing in disguise for the race: Schuring had used only one of the two permitted sets of new tyres during qualifying. Consequently, he was the only front-running driver to start on four fresh Michelin tyres.

Schuring capitalised on this advantage during the race. At the wheel of the Porsche 911 Cup fielded by the French Schumacher CLRT team, he overtook his rivals with apparent ease. The 19-year-old also set the fastest lap of the race. After 16 laps, he crossed the finish line in first place ahead of Keagan Masters. The Proton Competition driver from South Africa had started from pole position. However, Masters was later demoted from second to fifth place after receiving a time penalty for repeatedly exceeding track limits.

This promoted Paul Cauhaupe to second place. The 20-year-old Frenchman also claimed victory in the Rookie classification. Third place went to another Martinet by Alméras driver, Germany’s Theo Oeverhaus. The winner of the Monaco round thereby retained the overall lead in the championship standings. Flynt Schuring moves up to second place in the overall classification.

Marcus Amand, the second Porsche Junior, gained four positions compared to his starting place. The Finn finished fourth in the Porsche 911 Cup entered by BWT Lechner Racing.

Jacques Villeneuve experienced bad luck. The 1997 Formula 1 World Champion was contesting his first Supercup event in the series’ VIP car, but became involved in a collision shortly after the start. The incident damaged his Porsche 911 Cup, which had been liveried in the colours of his racing helmet. The Canadian subsequently retired in the pits.

It is unfortunate that Jacques Villeneuve’s Supercup debut came to an end after only one lap, but that is part of motor racing. Few people know that better than a former Formula 1 World Champion,” said Oliver Schwab, Project Manager of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will contest its third race of the season in two weeks’ time at the Red Bull Ring in Austria (26–30 June 2026).

Porsche Junior Flynt Schuring (NLD/Schumacher CLRT), 1st place: “After the disappointment in qualifying, I was pretty downhearted – until I realised that it had effectively given me a joker for the race. I executed that somehow forced strategy perfectly. Hopefully, I can celebrate another victory at the Red Bull Ring.”

Paul Cauhaupe (FRA/Martinet by Alméras), 2nd place, Rookie winner: “I made a great start and was able to attack race leader Keagan Masters through the opening two corners – unfortunately without success. On the restart after the Safety Car period, I simply had no answer to Flynt Schuring. Nevertheless, I’m absolutely delighted to have secured my first Rookie victory.”

Theo Oeverhaus (DEU/Martinet by Alméras), 3rd place: “Unfortunately, I messed up the start, which would have been my best opportunity to get past Keagan and Paul. I believe I had the pace to be quicker than both of them. Against Flynt, however, nobody stood a chance today. He truly deserved the victory.”
