Rolls-Royce Motor Cars pays tribute to Sir Ralph Robins, FREng,
FIMechE, FRAeS, who has passed away aged 93.
Sir Ralph was Chairman of Rolls-Royce plc from 1992 to 2003,
during which time he played a pivotal role in the agreement that
secured the future of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and the establishment of
its Home at Goodwood.
He went on to serve as a non-executive director of Rolls-Royce
Motor Cars from 2003, the year in which the first motor car was
hand-finished at Goodwood, and was a guiding presence through the
marque’s modern renaissance and the years that followed. A Chartered
Engineer and the holder of numerous professional and academic honours,
he brought a depth of technical insight to bear on many of the
marque’s innovations and continued in his non-executive role until
very recently.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars extends its sincere condolences to Lady
Robins, their two daughters and Sir Ralph’s entire family at this sad time.

Chris Brownridge, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor
Cars, said: “Sir Ralph was instrumental in the renaissance of
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars at Goodwood, and remained a trusted counsel
and steady hand in the years that followed in his capacity as a
non-executive director. Beyond Rolls-Royce, his contribution to
British industry and to UK plc was profound; he was, in every sense,
one of the great engineers and business leaders of his generation.
He will be deeply missed by all of us at the Home of Rolls-Royce.”
