BMW has reduced its XM range to a single model. What remains is the XM Label, which at 738 hp is the most powerful production BMW M car the company has built.
In Canada it is priced from $220,000, with production at BMW’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina beginning in August 2025.
Where 738 hp comes from
The M Hybrid system pairs a V8 producing 577 hp with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission contributing up to 194 hp. Combined output is 738 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque — a coincidence of matching figures that BMW has understandably not tried to hide.
The result is 100 km/h from rest in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h, the latter available because the M Driver’s Package is standard equipment in Canada rather than a cost option as it is in some markets.

The V8 uses M TwinPower Turbo technology with a cross-bank exhaust manifold, twin twin-scroll turbochargers, high precision injection at up to 350 bar, VALVETRONIC and Double-VANOS. The 19.2 kWh lithium-ion battery sits under the floor.
Weight is the figure that frames all of this: 2,764 kg at the kerb. The XM Label’s performance is achieved in spite of considerable mass rather than in the absence of it.
Changes for 2026
AC charging capacity rises from 7.4 kW to 11 kW through a revised Combined Charging Unit, which meaningfully shortens overnight top-ups for a plug-in hybrid of this size.
New options include BMW Individual Frozen Tanzanite Blue metallic paint, 23-inch M alloy wheels in Jet Black, and a Welcome Light Animation. Three new interior specifications join the range: Night Blue full Merino leather with Vintage Coffee accents, Black full Merino with the same accents, and Silverstone extended Merino with black accents. Rear seat comfort cushions matched to the seat colour are now standard across BMW Individual Merino upholsteries.
BMW also collaborated with British DJ Carl Cox, who built a composition from the car’s own sounds — the V8’s bass, the welcome chime, the noise of the hood closing.

The 2026 XM Label was unveiled on June 14 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where BMW M Motorsport was racing the M Hybrid V8 in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
What it means for Canadian buyers
Consolidating to one model removes the decision that previously existed between XM variants. At $220,000 there is no longer a less powerful, less expensive way into the range.
The standard M Driver’s Package is a genuine Canadian advantage worth knowing about, since it is what unlocks the 290 km/h limit rather than the lower electronically governed speed applied without it.
