Toyota Canada Announces Recall of Over 28,000 Vehicles Due to Transmission Issues
In a crucial safety notice, Toyota Canada has issued a recall for more than 28,000 vehicles across the nation, citing significant transmission problems that could potentially lead to accidents. The affected models include the 2023-24 Toyota Tundra, Sequoia, and Lexus LX 600.
According to Toyota Canada, the primary concern is that specific parts within the transmission may fail to disengage promptly when shifted into neutral. This malfunction can cause the wheels to continue moving, risking unintended vehicle movement. The company explained that when the affected vehicles are on a flat surface and without the brakes engaged, there is a risk they might creep forward at a low speed.
To address this issue, Toyota will be offering a free software update. The automaker is urging all owners of the affected models to visit their local Toyota or Lexus dealers to have the necessary adjustments made. Vehicle owners can expect to receive notifications regarding this recall by late April.
