The Volkswagen ID.7, a midsize electric sedan built on the MEB platform also utilized in the ID.4 SUV, mirrors the dimensions of the now-discontinued Passat sedan but offers even more interior space. As the latest offering in Volkswagen’s electric vehicle lineup, the ID.7 boasts several innovative features, including a substantial 15-inch central touchscreen, a head-up display, a sunroof with adjustable tint, adaptive suspension, and optional massaging seats. Not immediately obvious is its hatchback design.
The sedan is powered by a 282-horsepower electric motor coupled with a two-stage, one-speed transmission. Encased within the vehicle’s floor, its 77-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery supports up to 170 kW of charging. Plans for a larger 86-kWh battery version are under consideration. The ID.7, manufactured in Germany, is expected to go on sale in 2024 with an estimated price range of $45,000 to $55,000.
